Happy New Year, friends! Can you believe it’s already 2017? Entering a new year is always an exciting time because it gives you a fresh start with an opportunity to pursue passions and achieve new goals.
Well…this year I have ALL sorts of goals and ambitions in mind. 🙂
I’ve been writing this blog post in my head for months, maybe years. But now that’s it’s finally time, I hardly know where to begin.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a camera in my hand. Growing up I would beg my parents for a new one every few years. My friends always knew that they didn’t need to worry about documenting our adventures, because I would take hundreds of photos of even the most mundane activities (and I’d have them printed or posted to social media soon after).
Fast forward a few years to getting married — I spent so much time choosing the perfect photographer for our wedding. And I cherish those images from that day and the experience we had with her. So I continued to follow her work, which led to following more photographers. And more. And more. All of a sudden, my social feeds were filled with as many photographers as friends. I was spending so much of my spare time reading their blogs and educational materials, or watching their webinars. I couldn’t get enough, and it made me want to take even more photos. So I figured it was time that I turned my interest into action.
My husband obviously took notice, and he’s been encouraging me to pursue photography for so long. I figured if he believed in me that much, then it was time I start believing in myself. I just didn’t even know where to begin. But you have to start somewhere, right?
With that said, I’m so excited to announce my business, Christine Demos Photography!
In my photography, I love preserving genuine moments through a playful, joyous photo experience, using primarily natural light. I’m most passionate about shooting joyful couples and families! But I also love lifestyle sessions, including in-hospital or in-home newborns, gender reveals, and military homecomings. And I can’t wait to see how my interests continue to grow and evolve.
I love the quote by Dorothea Lange that states, “Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.”
I truly believe that a photograph should not just be a pretty still of smiling faces, but instead a reflection of the feelings and emotions in that moment of time. I’m so excited to document these memories for my clients!
Thank you to my family and friends who have been patient with me while I build my portfolio, or to those who offered encouragement as I began this endeavor. Thank you also to my sweet friend Kaitlin for her help with my branding, and to Amanda Hedgepeth for my headshots and being a mentor and inspiration! Ya’ll are what’s helping me take this leap of faith!
I’m now accepting 2017 bookings! If you or someone you know are interested in a session, I’d love to chat about how I can document your adventures! And in the meantime, please take a look around my blog and website!!
